It gave me perspective and made me return to the true nature of the holidays, which is to always give thanks for what you have, keep things simple and be prepared for anything.El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (or simply El Camino) is a 2019 American neo-Western crime thriller drama film. Therefore, although I was briefly interrupted, I do want to give thanks to the broken snow globe. Yes, the snow globe incident was traumatic, but I think it actually saved me and my son. As long as I continue with my plan of also adding in a couple days where we wrap up a gift for someone in need, then I can continue to foster a sense of giving and unselfishness into the tradition. I do want to make this holiday special for him, but not at the cost of raising another spoiled, ungrateful, expectant child. Do I continue with my plan? Do I come up with a new idea? Or do I simply return a number of the items and make it simple - stickers one day, an orange the next, a chocolate Santa and maybe the reindeer antler headband another day? ![]() What do I do? I already bought the 2’ tree and mini ornaments with my son explaining that it was his special Advent calendar that didn’t start until the beginning of December. So today, when the snow globe broke I panicked. I came across the scavenger hunt idea on a Website and ran with it, not foreseeing the potential disaster. That is why I decided to do a twist on the Advent calendar for my son. ![]() It was never a fancy one, just one with the little windows you opened that revealed a Christmas themed chocolate. I specifically remember the Advent calendar. So, again, it was never about mounds of gifts under the tree. Other years my family would exchange funny gifts or homemade gifts and those I remember the most. I specifically remember the year I got a pair of leather Nike’s with the blue swish I had been dreaming of. I usually did get one gift I really wanted every year. The holidays were often difficult for me as a child, but I was never deprived. However, as I drove home from Target I began to question if I was doing the one thing that I swore I would never do – make Christmas about the gifts. I thought I was doing something good for my son, something that would create great memories for him. Is dropping a snow globe the equivalent of breaking a mirror? Am I doomed for bad luck this Christmas? What have I done? The instant it dropped, I felt a sick feeling in my stomach. I spent the last hour looking for fun, inexpensive gifts to use for my son’s advent calendar, only to come home and drop the most precious and expensive gift of all – the “Holly, Jolly Christmas” singing snow globe. My week of thanks is temporarily interrupted due to a broken snow globe.
